Location: Two Two (3221 Grand Ave, Oakland, CA)
Experience Level: Any, beginner friendly
Capacity: 8 participants
Discover the beauty of repair in a hands-on group workshop that blends skill building with shared care for our clothes, led by Van Tran. Explore a range of beginner-friendly techniques to repair common wear and tear in garments, like reinforcing stress points, patching larger holes, and stabilizing fabric with darning stitches.
You’ll create a personal mending sampler to build your confidence with hand sewing, deepen your understanding of textile materials, and take home as a lasting resource.
Included with the workshop is a take home mending kit of high-quality Japanese thread, needle, fabric square, and printed resource guide. Communal tools such as rulers, scissors, fabric scraps, and fabric pens will also be available during the workshop—or bring your own to share and exchange!
About the Artist: Over the past decade, Van’s journey through fashion has shifted from industrial manufacturing to a more intentional, sustainability-minded practice. Rather than build a low-waste brand, she embraces garments with lived-in histories—mending, upcycling, and altering clothing in a slow, joyful process shaped by wear, chance, and curiosity.
