Beeswax Candle (Black)

Mafalda Costa is a multidisciplinary artist based in Porto whose experimental, intuitive practice explores the garden as a site of creation and connection, drawing from plants, dreams, archaeology, amulets, and imagined worlds. She began working with beeswax in 2019 while making her own oil pastels, eventually expanding into sculptural forms and naturally evolving a candle-making practice. Using beeswax sourced from local beekeepers in Portugal and Spain, she hand-dips and molds each candle as a small protective amulet or shrine piece—each one unique in form and intention.
