Two Two Takes on Frieze Los Angeles: OVER UNDER Group Show

In March Two Two traveled from Oakland to LA for the multidisciplinary group show OVER UNDER. Hosted at Good Arthur, a private event space in Chinatown, the shop presented clothing, textiles and decor from three design studios.

The artwork of Marcel Rozek and Isabella Innis spanned multiple floors of the event. Art curation was provided by Glass Rice, a contemporary gallery in San Francisco, and the space was furnished with vintage pieces from the LA-based interior sourcing and rental studio Drex.

Two Two's concept shop featured the following designers:

SERAPISMARITIME, Athens

SERAPIS is an art collective and label grounded in research on the infrastructures, imaginaries, and industries shaped by water. Their practice draws directly from the ocean itself, from its slipperiness to its entanglement with human-made systems.

The collective conducts site-specific fieldwork in ports, shipyards, and coastal industrial zones, gathering imagery, oral histories, industrial debris, and bureaucratic ephemera that later surface as garments, installations, and printed matter.

Presented by Two Two was a selection from multiple collections and operations-all produced in Greece.

STUDIO.K.N, Tokyo

Kenta Nagamine works through material first, shaping each piece through direct engagement with textiles and preserving the irregularities that emerge through making. He sources fabrics from textile regions across Japan, drawn to their distinct character and production histories. He currently lives and works in Tokyo, after eight years of study and work in San Francisco.

EMMA KAUFMAN, Los Angeles

A graduate of FIDM, Kaufman’s work explores vulnerability and autonomy through refined yet playful silhouettes. Each Handmade piece incorporates deadstock fabrics and experimental techniques.

Characterized by intentional inconsistencies, her practice examines control versus its ultimate lack. Femininity is expressed through emotion in sleek silhouettes, cinched waistlines, delicate textures, and softness. This is often disrupted by a rebellious, childlike voice that demands casualness, curiosity, and imperfection. The tension reflects a coming of age, the desire to be composed alongside a refusal to conform.
