Neandertal ‘them’ perfume is a collaboration between artist Kentaro Yamada and perfumer Euan McCall—an artistic response to ontological questions and the history of mankind.
Each bottle shape originates from a real flint-knapped stone from Norfolk, UK. Flint knapping was a technology developed by mankind over a million years and it is arguably the oldest technological and design object used by mankind. The glass bottles are created using laser 3D scanning and printing technology.

As a portrait of an optimistic technological future, the perfumer was challenged to create a conceptual and wearable fragrance that captures our imagination.

Top note: Grapefruit, lavender, carrot seed, sea kelp, iris
Heart note: Neroli, hinoki, magnolia
Base note: Sandalwood, ambrette, styrax, musk & ambergris
NEANDERTAL by Kentaro Yamada is a contemporary fragrance project that breaks from traditional perfumery, blending art, science, and history. Collaborating with artists and filmmakers, Yamada uses modern technologies like 3D scanning and printing to create conceptual scents and objects inspired by ancient human processes.
